DMU is not accepting applications for Year 1 (September 2024 entry) to this course. However, you can consider applying for the English Literature BA (Hons) or Creative Writing BA (Hons) courses. Applications for direct entry into Year 2 and Year 3 of the English Language course are still open.
The English Language with Mandarin course is designed to make you think about how language, especially English, works in today’s world. You’ll explore the history of English and how it might change in the future with global and technological shifts. The course helps you understand the power of language to express ideas, emotions, and beliefs, and how it can influence and persuade others.
Throughout the course, you’ll build strong language and analysis skills to become an effective communicator. Learning how language works can open up new opportunities for you.
In addition to studying English, you’ll also learn Mandarin, starting at either beginner or post-beginner level. This will improve your language skills and help you understand more about Chinese culture, society, politics, and history.
