The Finance and Investment BSc course at DMU offers a solid academic foundation in finance, focusing on practical skills and career opportunities. You'll gain advanced technical knowledge and the right professional mindset needed to succeed in the finance industry. This course is part of the Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) Affiliation Program, which helps prepare students for the CFA exams—one of the top qualifications in the finance world.

You’ll learn about finance by exploring related subjects like accounting and economics. The course is great for students who enjoy working with numbers, as it focuses heavily on using data. You’ll also work with industry-standard tools like Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters Eikon, Matlab, and Python to connect theory with real-world finance practices.

New and innovative modules, like Artificial Intelligence and Financial Applications, will give you hands-on experience in using and creating AI tools to solve real-world problems.

You will usually need 104 UCAS points, which can come from at least two A-levels or a BTEC National Diploma/Extended Diploma with DMM grades. You’ll also need five GCSEs at grade 4 or higher, including English (or an equivalent qualification).

Other accepted qualifications include:
- A pass in an Access to HE course (approved by QAA) with at least 30 level 3 credits at Merit, plus a separate English GCSE.
- We usually ask that students have a break from full-time education before starting the Access course.
- International Baccalaureate: 24 points or more.
- T Levels: Merit.

English Language Requirements

If English is not your first language, you need an IELTS score of 6.0 overall, with at least 5.5 in each section (or a similar test score) to start the course.

Students admitted to undergraduate study at DMU are automatically awarded an international scholarship of £1,500 for their first year of study. Students commencing Postgraduate Taught study (but not the Global MBA) at DMU are automatically awarded an international scholarship for their first year of study up to £2,000. Students admitted into the Global MBA at DMU are automatically awarded an international scholarship of £2,500.
