Over the past 20 years, there has been a huge increase in cultural and commercial events around the world, ranging from local creative gatherings to international festivals that transform cities like Edinburgh, Amsterdam, Dubai, and Hong Kong. This course provides a lively learning environment, combining theory, the latest industry knowledge, and self-directed study to help you understand how to develop and manage cultural events and creative businesses.
The curriculum covers a wide range of cultural events and the organizations that present them. You will learn about the principles of event management and enterprise involved in organizing community celebrations, local events, established festival networks, live music events, and international festivals. Through guest lectures and workshops, you will have the chance to meet and network with professionals from the creative and cultural industries. There are also placement opportunities, where past students have worked with various regional arts and cultural organizations, such as the Birmingham Hippodrome and Leicester City Council’s Festivals and Events Team.
