The Leadership and Management course focuses on ongoing professional growth. You will work on projects based on your job and write a detailed dissertation that benefits your organization. This course also offers a chance to earn a dual qualification: the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 7 Diploma in Leadership and Management, which is a unique option in the UK.
Module Overview
The MSc in Leadership and Management allows you to study how leadership affects individuals, teams, and organizations. You will learn about different leadership theories and apply them to your own experiences and those in your workplace.
Leadership and Followership: This part of the course helps you think critically about leadership and followership. It encourages you to reflect on your role as a leader and a follower.
Global and Strategic Issues in Leadership and Management: This module focuses on the strategic skills needed for leadership. You will conduct a strategic inquiry based on your organization.
Research Methods: You will learn the methods and techniques needed to conduct research for your leadership and management studies, especially for your dissertation.
Strategic Leadership: You will gain knowledge about setting performance goals, developing strategic plans, and leading for high performance. This includes a live project, usually related to your organization.
Understanding and Managing Change: This module looks at how to lead and manage change in organizations. You will examine the reasons for change by doing a live project in your workplace.
Coaching for Executive Leadership and Management: You will learn how to use coaching as a tool to help achieve goals and improve performance.
Dissertation: You will conduct an in-depth study where you critically review literature and conduct original research, typically related to your organization.
You need to have a minimum 2:2 Honours degree or an equivalent qualification and at least two years of relevant leadership or management experience. If you're in an accelerated graduate program, you can also apply.
The assessments for this course focus on real work situations, so it’s only available on a part-time basis. Students should be working in a suitable job to complete the live projects required for the course.
For international applicants, you need to have an overall IELTS score of 6.0, with at least 5.5 in each section, or a TOEFL score of 72 overall, with at least 18 in reading, 17 in listening, 20 in speaking, and 17 in writing, or an equivalent score.
International Office Scholarships worth up to £2,000 are available for students who are paying for their studies. You will automatically be considered for one of these scholarships when we receive your application.
